there ...

among pots and pans

a smiling Buddha

paddle strokes ~

the rhythm of an old

Inuit song

dementia –

her hands still remembers

how to pet the dog

midnight sun -

the breath of the ocean

under the kayak

silver glint -

a tern penetrates

the surface

silenced -

in the eagle's nest

a songbird

old floor

again the sound

of little feet

again

in this antique glass

winter aconite

dental clinic ~

a boy and his tiger

inseparable

deeper

with every paddle stroke

into silence

homework ~

the marks on the pencil

from her teeth

a shout

in the quiet evening -

his first fish

snowballs ~

the space between us filled

with laughter

snowballs ~

the space between us filled

with laughter

this stillness

in the apple orchard

winter rain

jigsaw puzzle ~

the ice on the fjord

breaking up

the last apple ~

half for you and half for me

little blackbird

side by side ~

the old pocket knife

through an apple

longer days ~

a pile of black snow

on retreat

deep breath ~

in the clean cool air

a distant rumble
