summer romance

going up in flames -

paper roses

Saturday, 19 February 2011 20:52

cricket season -

pale apparitions

in the sun

blemished moon ...

gazing at the wrinkles

in the pond

bowing down

an agapanthus bloom ...

summer fullness

ancient tree ...

within the shadows

an apple rots

waitangi day ...

kauris grow past oaks

in silence

night sky ...

its fullness empties

over me

hui tanguru...

a distant rumble now

the big bang

perfectly still -

my shadow taints the earth

under the stars

cicadas rasping ...

ancient ripples echo

among stones

green fields -

the children of tane

lie beneath

honey bee,

you are leaving yourself

behind

a pukeko

sounds out the depth

of night

wahi ngaro -

a fantail flits

around me
