                                                       an eternal light

                            hines for Svetlana

                                      in the sky

                                                 a little light

                          and shines love

                                 forever

an earthquake-

the tree falls down dead

and spring comes

early bud-

half in

half out

Fourth Place in March Shiki Kukai Kigo Contest

two thousand candles

two thousand water lilies

on the shore forever

water

conquers land-

tsunami

remembering

her teachers at night-

she makes paperdolls

remembering

mama-

a living doll

a teddy bear-

the  prize I win

in a race

same streets

same trains-

again in New York

I open my eyes

to a new world-

haiku

as I leave for work

a loud cry-

my puppy

burning

the midnight oil-

owl at my side

a bee

swimming and drinking

in a flower

marriage-

white and red flowers

on a plum tree

crescent moon-

a piece of orange

in a white peel

on the sand-

footprints lead

to the sea

daffodils stretch

to the sky-

contemplation

between stones

on paths and hills-

wildflowers

behind dark clouds

she wears a mask-

the moon
